What we prescribe

Tadalafil

A long-acting PDE5 inhibitor used to treat erectile dysfunction. It’s effective, safe, and can be taken either daily or as needed, depending on your needs and preferences.

What It Does to the Body

Tadalafil helps you get and keep an erection by relaxing blood vessels in the penis and increasing blood flow when you’re sexually aroused. It does not cause an erection on its own — sexual stimulation is still needed.

It works by blocking an enzyme (called PDE5) that usually breaks down the chemicals that help you get an erection. By blocking this enzyme, Cialis lets those helpful chemicals stay active longer.

Who is it for

Tadalafil is for adult men experiencing difficulty getting or maintaining an erection. It may be especially helpful for:

  • Men with underlying conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease (if medically stable)
  • Those with psychological factors like stress, anxiety, or depression.
  • Men who want a longer-acting ED option (Tadalafil can work up to 36 hours)
  • Individuals looking for discreet, flexible dosing, whether on demand or daily.
  • People recovering from prostate surgery or with pelvic nerve injury.
  • Those with mild to moderate ED, regardless of the cause.

Luvra provides care for patients who are medically cleared and appropriate for at-home ED treatment.

How to use it

On-demand use:

  • Take 10-20 mg at least 30 minutes before sexual activity.
  • Effects can last up to 36 hours.

Daily use:

  • Take 2.5 – 5 mg once daily, at the same time each day, regardless of sexual activity.

Do not take more than one dose per day. Always follow the prescribed dose.

When not to use

Avoid Tadalafil if you:

  • You take nitrates (often for chest pain) or guanylate cyclase stimulators, this combination can dangerously lower your blood pressure.

  • You’ve been advised to avoid sexual activity due to serious heart problems.

  • You have severe kidney or liver disease. These conditions affect how your body processes the medication, and you may need alternative care.

  • You have very low blood pressure, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or a history of stroke, heart attack, or irregular heartbeat.

  • You are taking certain medications that can interact with tadalafil. Your provider will review your history before prescribing.

Common Treatment questions

Tadalafil can be taken either as a once-daily dose (2.5 mg or 5 mg) or as-needed (10 mg or 20 mg).

Take it orally with water, with or without food.

Do not take more than one dose per day or double up.

In most cases, no blood tests are needed. We prescribe tadalafil to healthy stable adults without known liver, kidney, or heart conditions. If you have ongoing symptoms or other health concerns, we recommend speaking with your primary care provider for further evaluation.

When taken as needed, Tadalafil may start working in 30 to 60 minutes. Its effects can last up to 36 hours. Daily use maintains steady levels in the body. Do not double up.

Keep in mind that the Effectiveness of ED medications varies. Factors such as blood pressure, medication interactions, and stress can impact the results. If Tadalafil is ineffective, other medications may be considered.

Tadalafil is safe for long-term use if prescribed by a medical provider. Regular check-ins help ensure it remains appropriate and safe for your health.

Side effects may include headache, back pain, indigestion, flushing, or nasal congestion. These are typically mild and temporary.

In rare cases, Tadalafil may cause sudden vision changes, hearing impairment, or prolonged erection over 4 hours (priapism). Seek medical attention immediately if this happens.

Avoid taking Tadalafil with nitrates, alpha-blockers, or blood pressure medications unless approved by your primary care doctor. Always list your medications in your intake form.

Limited alcohol, as it may increase the side effects like dizziness or low blood pressure.

No. Tadalafil tablets should be swallowed whole. Do not crush, split, or chew time.

Coverage varies. Tadalafil is considered a lifestyle medication, and not all plans cover it.

Luvra does not process insurance or prior authorizations, but we’ll send your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice. Many patients use GoodRx or Cost Plus Drugs for affordable pricing.
